How fly-goodbye works

Order NowA dual piston system and an intermediate spring are located inside the suction cylinder. Pushing the capture tube into the suction cylinder loads the system (see first two figures). After being loaded, the capture tube must be pulled out (pump-action motion). The mark on the capture tube must be visible at this time (see third figure), otherwise fly-goodbye will not work. The fly-goodbye system is now loaded and ready for use. fly-goodbye requires no batteries.

How to catch a fly

Approach the fly at a distance of approximately an inch or two and aim at the object.

Once the trigger has been activated,  the capture tube will shoot out about a 1/2 of an inch. At the same time there will be a strong vacuum created in the suction cylinder and capture tube. The fly doesn't stand a chance against the suction, which is reinforced by the rapid projection of the capture tube. The fly is sucked into the capture tube up to the protective grating. The protective grating prevents the fly from getting into the internal mechanism.

Tips for fly hunting

Goodbye flyFlies are usually able to avoid danger thanks to their excellent reaction ability. Flies tend to flee only when threatened. Rapid movement in their immediate vicinity is perceived as a threat. If you approach the fly slowly, you can get within 1/2 of an inch of it. This is the principle on which fly-goodbye is based. Approach the target slowly without making any rapid movements to about 1/2 to 2 inches. Fly-goodbye works best if held diagonally in the air.

Strong SuctionIt also works if held perpendicular from the top, but not as well since air flow is disrupted. When compressing the trigger, please note that fly-goodbye must be held as still as possible. The capture tube will rapidly shoot out 1/2 inch while simultaneously creating strong suction inside the capture tube. Faced with this type of attack, flies become helpless and stand no chance. They are sucked into the capture tube.

Glue inside tubeIf a glue cartridge is used (see figure above), the following will happen:

The captured fly attempts to crawl out of the capture tube and becomes stuck on the sticky surface of the glue cartridge. When the sticky surface is full, a new cartridge can be inserted and the used cartridge disposed.

For capturing safelyWhen using the catch & release cartridge

The captured fly attempts to escape the catch & release cartridge. This requires some time as the fly cannot fly (the cartridge is too narrow). The hunter now has enough time to close the cartridge with the cap. The catch & release cartridge can be removed from the capture tube in order to examine the insect. The insect can be released after if desired.
